Had a free drink token and figured I could use a beer after my 13 hour shift. Boy did I quickly remember why I don’t go out alone.
How do people do that shit? I don’t like strangers.

Find a new place with better strangers.

You’re right. It’s also not the most welcoming crowd in the first place, people with summer houses on the lake, I just work there.

yeah... gotta be in the right mood, (tough after a 13hr shift..) But sometimes it can be cool, especially at the right bar. Sports bars or a people watch/view bar can be fun...

I’ve got another token, maybe I’ll try one of the days I get off at 4. It was a busy Friday night, lots of out-of-towners and college kids.

I need to find a place with good, talkitive strangers. Always feel so out of the group when I go to bars solo

I have a place handy with another
kind of bad strangers (
r
iff
raff)
.
I
wanted to make it work as it’s a great pub with great
staff, but just couldn’t
. Didn’t help it was a small space either.

I can usually bullshit with a bartender but, when it’s a busy Friday night I get into a weird bubble and don’t want to talk to anyone.

This is why I love breweries! Everyone is basically
there for the same reasons and
drinking the same
thing
. It’s so easy to start
conversations and meet new people.
Before you know it you’re not even talking
about the beer anymore
.

Especially when the brewery has seating layouts that pretty much force social interaction via large, long tables that force folks to sit with other folks they didn’t come with.

Hmm. Methinks I need to gain an appreciation for beer. So far I'm only into cider. Hopefully it's an acquired taste

It’s common for breweries to carry a cider. Some even make their
own. You’re in the door! :-)x

Yeah, I’ve given up. Just because I want a beer after work and I’m by myself, does not mean I want to go home with anyone. It’s less exhausting going to have that beer on my couch even if the selection is much more limited.
(This is not me trying to say that all guys are like that, by any means! But it just takes one and that one will always zero in on me)

The one I go to often (& now do a few shifts a week at) is nice. Good bands, good people, also helps to know the staff too.
